Well, I'm going up to NW Oklahoma this weekend to look at some land and decided what I want to lease. Its hard to decide in one afternoon. What major things would you look for? There is so much wheat that food is not a question. This farmer has a thing against trees. He pushes them all into big piles. Not that there is that many trees out there anyways. So, wood lots are few and far between. So, what do ya think?

If there are no bedding areas on the land look for travel routes to and from a food source. I'm looking at a similar situation in Northcentral Oklahoma for hunting. Wheat farms with very little bedding areas. What part of NW Oklahoma? I have a lot of kinfolk up that way.

The land is north of Alva. The place I had last year has a nice doe bedding area, but the problem is the bedding area is right on my west property line. They come in from the east jump the fence and their in the bedding area. So, I have been hunting "in" the bedding area. I know thats not a smart thing to do, but thats the only place I see deer. I hope to find a better set up this weekend.

I have had kinfolk in That Area since before statehood. Most of them I haven't seen in years. That part of the state from what I understand is supposed to be the best chance to get a big buck. Also should be a lot of deer.
