Saturday when a buddy and I where coming back across the lake after a hunt on the public land at kaw lake. we saw a deer standing in the edge of he water.we could tell immediately that something was wrong with it; upon closer investigation we saw that someone had blown its lower mandible off(gone) and its tongue was hanging out from the front of the hole. it obviously couldnt eat or drink and was emaciated to the point where it looked like a bag of bones shrink-wrapped with hair. I know the ethical thing to do was shoot it but what is the legal thing to do. Does any one know? What would you have done?

Wow,tough call.I guess that is one of those situations where you would just have to be there,I mean there are a lot of variables.I would hope that I could do the humane thing and put it out of its misery, but it would be a tough call whether or not to spend a tag on it.

I shot a Caribou in Alaska one year that had been neck shot before by another hunter. It was still in good health butwas obviously infectd and going to cause it a slow painful death. We owe it to the game we hunt to take only high quality shots with fairly certain results. Can you imagine wat PETA and the ARFER's would do if they found that deer? What did you do?
