Well i had a spur of the moment hankering to go out to the piggy place on friday night to do some scouting for a weekend hunt.. I got to a creek crossing that always has alot of sign there, i went ahead and packed my .22-250 just in case.. I got into the creek and was looking at the mud and heard water splashing down stream, I look up and seen a huge boar crossing the creek not 60 yards from me... I got him in the scope and shot , and he hit the ground hard and started spashing around in the creek, he kicked around and got to his feet and headed for the bank and I shot and knocked him down again, and he still got back up and took off up the bank.. I got one more shot at him as he was goin up the bank..by this time it was getting really late and where he went was really thick stuff.. I had just a little light with me and didnt want to go in there basically blind..
I had some stuff to do early on saturday so I didnt get to go looking for him, but i went back sunday to try and find him so I could at least get the head off him to european mount him..
I found him not 60 yards from where I shot him..
I would guess him to weigh up around 300-350 lbs, he had 3.5" cutters on his left side and the bottom one on the right was broken off.. he's definatly the biggest boar i have ever shot..
I was also impressed with the .22-250 by the way it exited, I was shooting 65 grain nosler partitions and he hit the ground twice and one of my rounds exited him.. I really like those rounds that we loaded.. I'll post pics of him as soon as i get them sent to me..
