Well,
Did anybody have any luck? I heard it is hot down there, I won't be down until Wednesday. Its supposed to cool off big time then, hopefully that will get the deer moving!

Hunted 3 days over thanksgiving weekend and never even saw a deer!!!
Worse deer season I have had in OK for many years! Was it just my place or are the deer just not moving now?

All of the movement I've seen in the last few days was after dark.

All of the movement I've seen in the last few days was after dark. I was curious if that was the issue at my place. Saw some fresh sign after the snow, but never saw any deer.

I went back out this evening. Buddy of mine got a doe and we saw a very impressive buck at a distance. Hopefully the rut is kicking in a little better now.

I shot a small button opening morning. Saw a doe but only after I shot the Button. Going back out Saturday. Hope they are moving better. Saw a nice buck at the check station when checking my deer. He was one rutted up smelly dude. That was opening day.

Well, rifle season is over now. I don't know anyone that scored big this year. I guess it's up to Mathews, Gold Tip, and Muzzy now.

My hunting partner saw 8 deer this year and didn;t get a shot at any. He saw three on saturday december 1 and drew down down on a buck but also saw a cow in the scope picture. While he was waiting for them to clear out they smelled something and ran off.

Its been a poor season for most hunters I know. I only know of a couple that got decent bucks.
With the one buck tag being taken away I think most hunters waited early in the season (bow and ML) and when it came down to rifle the deer just werent moving like they should. Taking into factor the moon phase, the high temps, and with the abundance of rain this whole year the deer just arent out searching in the open fields. The acorns were also abundant this year keeping the deer in cover. This could prove to be very good for next year. With a low number of bucks taken it should let them grow for another year.
So for those hunters whose season ends with the closing of rifle season...fret not. Next year is already looking promising. We just have to wait and see what mother nature has in store for us....and if it makes for a great year in the woods in 2008.

I only got to hunt about 15 hours over three days this year but either myself or someone in our party saw deer every trip. Nothing big but some nice bucks and good does. Judging by the shed I found last weekend there is still one heavy antlered 8 point on the property we can hunt.

With the new regulations combined with the decrease on sightings on big bucks next year should be a lot better. Bow season is still hovering over me so I haven't heard the fat lady, yet.
