Well, season maybe closed in Oklahoma, but here in Nebraska the turkeys still strut into danger zones. My wife scored this nice Merriams last weekend. I was a little jealous having not killed a merriams yet. We hunt areas where there are Rio/Eastern and Rio/Merriams hybrids, with some pure bloods (or at least pure looking) ones running around. I have yet to put the hurt on a pure Merriams. Now shes one bird ahead of me on a slam and completed her Nebraska slam! Almost forgot, 3/4 inch spurs, 9 inch beard, BUT most impressively 23lbs!!!! A HUGE Merriams weight wise!
