It really depends on the animal for me. I have a 300+" set of Caribou antlers that are just antlers on a plate which look awesome. I also have an 8" Brown bear rug. For whitetail deer I have seen some shoulder mounts with the buck looking down and to his right that I really like. If I shoot an elk I will try to do it in full bugle. Antelope look really good at full alert and full body mount but that stuff gets expensive for this poor working man.

I have 3 european mounts one is on a pedestal made out of old barn wood which looks awesome, but its just setting on a desk.. the skull is not attached to it either, I was j/w how you attached yours.. oh ya, who did the shoulder mount, it looks very nice!!

Kelly Merrel out of Perkins did the shoulder mount. Had it back within a couple months he is good and super fast. If you look real close on the one with out teeth just below the horn there is a screw and one on the other side. if you don't like The look of screws holding your mount a little wood glue and white paint and they disappear. on the one with teeth I drilled a small hole through the plaque and ran a small but strong wire through the hole where the ocular nerve exits the bottom of the skull (there is a hole that usually goes all the way from one side to the other) you cant see it unless your really lookin for it. both ways work pretty good. a word of advice don't drill or put a screw forward of the eye sockets most of the skull out there will split if you try. also pre-drill the holes in the skull before adding screws. The method with the screws is pretty hard to get lined up right

Use a sharp bit and drill very slowly through thick bone and it shouldn't split.

They call it a braggin board for a reason.
You need to kill something (with horns) to brag about (not a cow).
