Time to fill out controlled hunt applications again. Just curious about how people select the hunts they apply for and whether you party hunt.

I choose areas that have party hunts. I like building the memories with friends and family.

Usually pick spots for thier trophy potential.
This year I don't really wanna get drawn, as I have too many other hunts planned, so I just put in for a single deer hunt with long draw odds. That way I can get my prefernce point, with very little chance of actually gettting drawn.

It might be pretty cool if a few of us from the site put in for buddy hunts and got it.

Lexington out east of OKC is a pretty easy draw for a party hunt (540 Permits this year) and so is Cherokee. My Dad and I will probably hunt together again this fall and my boss if he is still in the state. We drew Lexington and found a spot with lots of sign and few other hunters. Nobody shot anything but the harvest was down all over the state. My boss saw 8 but coudn't get a shot. As tall as the grass and underbrush is Lexington is a tough place to hunt. The few Deer I saw at the check station were nice and fat looking deer.

I put Lane in for the youth deer hunt and turkey. Put linet and I in for Elk. Also put her and I in for the turkey hunt in AAP as a team. We better get drawn this yr. I would love to go down to Big Mac for the monster long beard.

Good Luck on your drawings. How may years has everybody been putting in for an Elk Permit? I am on my 4th year so I don't really expect to get drawn. I put in some times when I was a kid but had about a 20 year break.

I started applying for hunts when I was 18. I have been pretty fortunate. I have drawn a cow elk, BEFORE it was once a lifetime, so I can put in for elk again in 2012. I have been drawn the last 2 years for deer hunts. One at Eufala SP, which they did away with for some reason, and last year at Ft. Gibson. I currently have 13 points for antelope and 11 points for turkey. Keep building those suckers and I am bound to get drawn sometime. I have shot lopes before but I really wanna get one in my home state.

in the last 3 years I have been drawn for two deer hunts and a turkey hunt. I guess I've been pretty lucky since I've only been putting in for three years. No Elk draw yet but trying again this year. I got drawn for a Turkey this year but didn't get to go because of work and travel schedules.
