If anyone has a story about their first deer, I would like to read about them.

my first deer was a little doe i was in a tree stand and was almost dozing off when i herd some foot steps to my left i looked over and seen a little doe walking down the hill i watched her for a little bit as she kept coming my way then i raised my rifle and shot sell it was almost dark and about ten minutes later the apexpredator came up and ask if it was me that shot i told him yea so we walked to the truck and got the flash light and went looking we looked for a bit and the we seen one jump and go a little farther we decided to go home and come back the next morn when it was light out. we walked to where we had seen the one jump and about 20 yards from there she was laying dead we looked i had gut shot her pretty badly but got her anyway (i think this was in 2002)

My first deer was also a doe. In 2003 I was hunting just outside of Jefferson Texas on a friend's Ranch. Just at dusk on Saturday after Thanksgiving a group of does walked out of the woods. Texas allows 2 does and doesn't care if you shoot them both on the same day. It was about 225 to 250 yards to the group from my stand. I seriously underestimated the range and shot low. Then shot high with the second shot. Then the buck fe3ver was over and I remembered I could hold straight on out to about 300 yards. The next shot centered a doe in the lungs and she jumped twice then fell. Two does ran out in the field and I shot one of them as well.

My first deer was when I was 12yrs old. Man that was in 1990 ... I had been hunting with my dad for a yr before and this was my yr to hunt by myself. I told my dad where I was gonna hunt and he said ok. I took off in the dark woods and got lost. I thought I remembered where a rub and fresh scrap were that I had found the day before but the darkness kept me from knowing where I was. I finally got tired of walking in circles and decided to stand still until I could see. As the sun came up I could start seeing things I remembered. I just so happend to be standing about 20 yrds from the scrape and rub. I was just standing beside the tree when I heard something behind me. I turned to look and when I didnot see anything I turned back around and there in front of me was a buck. I was scared to death. He was standing about 30 ft in front of me just looking at me. I slowly pulled the rifle up and kinda aimed it at the buck and pulled the trigger. I dont think I even aimed. The buck dropped in his tracks. It was a perfect backbone shot. One more inch I would have missed it. I was so happy I started shouting, My dad came right over and we looked at it and he made me gut it. I was so happy, I also took a bite out of the heart and spit it out . That was one of the best days I can remember. It was just a 3 point but it was my first Deer and I was and still am happy with it.

My first (that actually made it to my house) was a decent 9 point with horns that curved in multiple directions. I was 12 years old sitting in a fence line clearing. My mom sitting about 400 yards to the east and my dad was sitting about 400 yards to the west. The buck came fast from behind me and passed within 5 feet. I fired a shot while it was running away from me but missed, reloaded my bolt action 30-30 and fired a quick second shot just as he disappeared into the thick brush. Then I heard mom shoot and just knew she had killed my buck. I walked to the last place I saw him and heard splashing down in the creek. When I peered over the bank my buck was flailing about in the creek bottom. I finished him off with a good shot this time. Mom had shot a different 9 point when she shot. Incidentally my dad had killed a buck from mom's stand just two days before. It was the perfect season for a beginner.
The first deer I ever shot was a huge 12 point when I was 8. Dad and I trailed the deer a long ways to where someone else had picked it up.
This rifle season is the first time my 9 year old son will be actually shooting. I can't wait to see him try and steady himself enough to pull off a good shot.

My first deer was similar to Jon's. I was 14 and had been hunting with my Dad for 5 or 6 years. We went down to Sallisaw to hunt with my uncle during rifle season. We went and scouted Friday before opening morning but when I walked in before daylight everything looked different so after stumbling around for a while I just sat down against a tree. It wasn't 5 minuites after shooting light and I heard something behind me so I rolled over on my stomach and used my pack as a rest. There was a small spike about 20 yards uphill. And yes I started shaking and rattling leaves but I managed to finally get a shot off and he dropped where he stood.Just shrtly after I shot my uncle came by laughing he said he watched the whole thing and didn't know if I was ever going to shoot or not.Just one of many great memories of over 20 years of hunting.

my first deer i was 13, it was in black powder season and i was hunting down at my grandmas farm.. there are two rye grass fields surrounded by timber that we loved to hunt.. I was shooting a h&r .45 cal muzzleloader with iron sights.. I set on the north side of the field watching the corner where the deer had been coming out.. about an hour after I set down i seen a deer hop the fence and come into the field.. It was a small spike, my heart started pounding when i first seen him.. I let him work his way to where he was right in front of me.. it seem like it took him forever to get there.. but when he did i cocked the hammer and let the smoke pole bark.. when the smoke cleared, there layed my buck, back legs paralized and trying to get up.. My dad was hunting to the east of me about 300 yards.. back then i wasn't able to seat the bullet down very well so i was trying to reload and i look over and my dad is running twords me to help, he gets there and we finished the buck off.. Its always a memory that I'll have in my mind forever.. I jump at the chance to go hunting with my dad whenever I can..

I don't usually here to many stories about first deer that do not involve a rifle. It's cool that you took him with a muzzleloader. I was 16 before I got one with a muzzleloader and 17 before I got one with a bow.
I'm starting to build hunting memories with my son now. I love it when he gets to go to the woods with me, and since he got his first one this season, it's hard to get him to stay home and take care of home issues before we go out.

My first deer was a little nubbin buck. I WAS 13-14 cant remember Ed Zachary.I was sittin over 30 feet up in an old rickety wooden stand when little fuzzy nubs shows up. At first I thought he was a doe so I just watched him for a while. I looked at him through the scope and realized he was a buck I still waited about 20 min. then i told him if he was still around in 5 then he was mine. Well that didn't scare him apparently. The five passed and I pulled up the old breakdown 30-30 of my dads (made around the turn of the century.) Put the cross hairs on his heart and smoked him. He didn't even know he was hit he ran about 5 feet then went all Bambi on ice with his legs and fell over in a shallow creek. My dad was a couple hundred yards away and came over to help me drag it out. Its funny that one of the smallest deer i have ever taken is the most vivid in my mind still.
